A deep purple colour with ripe plums, berry and dark chocolate aromas on the nose. The intensity of the fruit is carried on to the palate where it fills one’s mouth with juicy tannins.

An explosion of fresh ripe red berry fruits on the nose. Red cherry aromas mingled with soft oaky creamy notes entices further. Just enough soft tannin grip on the palate makes this an easy drinking wine. Ending with a long juicy finish

Bin 389 was often referred to as ‘Baby Grange’, in part because components of the wine are matured in the same barrels that held the previous vintage of Grange. First made in 1960 by the legendary Max Schubert, this was the wine that helped forge Penfolds reputation with red wine drinkers by combining the structure of cabernet sauvignon with the richness of shiraz. Exemplifying the judicious balance of fruit and oak, Bin 389 highlights the generous mid-palate Penfolds is known for.

Matured for 12 months in older 225- and 300-litre barrels. Red and black berries, floral perfume, fynbos and a little undergrowth on the nose. Medium bodied with fresh acidity fine tannins. Balanced and lightly dry on the finish.
