Groote Post Unwooded Chardonnay

Matured in 2nd/3rd fill French oak barrels for approximately 8 months. Forthcoming and diverse nose of citrus, vanilla and peach.Intense mouth-feel with flavours of grapefruit, lime, vanilla and butterscotch. Rich flavours with a long finish expressing characters of crème-brulee.

The nose shows poise and precision. Wet stone and minerality, supported by aromas of shortbread and white stone fruit, followed by a very attractive nutty toastiness, gives context to the bouquet. The palate is zesty and lively with crystalline definition and purity. White pears and quince follow, with hints of acacia flower succulence and subtle hints of vanilla and toast. A palate of considerable poise, yet enduring length and structure.

This beautifully poised 2021 barrel-fermented Chardonnay, has a complex nose of lime and ripe pear with a buttery undertone. The multi-layered palate is filled with deciduous fruit flavours and quality wood spices and livened by a crisp Burgundian acid.

TASTING NOTES

An elegant example of unwooded Chardonnay with minerality reminiscent of oyster shell, a vibrant taste of fresh saltiness, and a squeeze of lime, finishing with an elegantly coated texture on the palate.
